Hello, lovely! I’m Nospheratt and this is Joy Every Week - a weekly quest to find joy in everyday things. You’re receiving this either because you subscribed or someone forwarded it to you. Enjoy! :)
I had so much fun with last week’s quest — Turn Your Journaling Into a Practice of Joy — that I decided to try something new. 😊 I hope you come along! 💛
🌿 Weekly journaling prompts,
centered on joy and making it a joyful practice. ✏️
🌱 Joy For Everyone
You don’t have to be a journal keeper to enjoy this!
My intention isn’t to get you writing about your day or your life. 1
The goal here is to create a space in your week to mess about with joy, color, permission, sparkles of creativity, images, words, emotions, things that speak to you.
It doesn’t have to take a lot of time either, if you’re busy; even half an hour will be enough to connect with yourself and make something purely for the joy and fun of it. Even 15 minutes will do.
🪴 How This Works
It’s very simple!
You get the prompts on Fridays.
I will send you 3 variations of the same theme, so you can choose the one that resonates the most with you. Or do two, or all three!
There’s no shoulds here. Ever. Do what makes your heart happy.
You interpret them however you wish. They’re not assignments — they’re inspiration. 💫
You make something based on that.
You share it in a note if you’d like, and tag me! I’d love to see what you come up with. 😁✨
🌵 What Do You Need
1 - A notebook
You can do it in a journal you already have, of course. I am going to start a new one just for this. Any excuse to get a new notebook! 😂 2
You could also use one of the pretty notebooks you have stashed (cough like I do cough), or an old notebook you have laying around. A sketchbook would be great, too; or even a binder and some sheets of paper.
Anything that feels good to you will be perfect.
2 - Stuff to write, draw or paint
Depending on what is your jam. Ideally, gather your materials in a box, case or bag so they’re easily accessible when you’re ready to have fun with your journal. Some ideas:
Pens and pencils (I’m partial to erasable pens. They give me a lot of freedom to make mistakes and not worry about it.)
Colored pencils or crayons
Paints and brushes
3 - Stuff to decorate, if you’re into that
You don’t have to be! But if you like to mess around with artsy things, get whatever materials strike your fancy. Like:
Stickers
Printed materials - you can print things and use glue to add them to your journal!
Cut out materials - clippings from magazines, coloring books, newspapers…
Scraps of pretty papers, tags, cards - anything that you like and get your hands on.
Scissors
Glue stick or sticky tape
Washi tape
Stamps
Let your creativity run wild. I’ve been know to cut pasta boxes and bread wrappers to make stickers for my journals. 😂
🌳 This Week’s Theme - Color Swatch
Ideas & inspiration for journaling joy.
We are starting with Color, because it’s a big source of joy for me at this moment.

Colors for joy
🌱 Ideas
Make a color swatch — like I did the one pictured above. 😀
Draw & paint a pattern with your chosen colors
Grab a printable Pantone-inspired Swatch page (and some inspiration) here: 10 Creative Ways To Swatch Pens In Your Bullet Journal. Have fun coloring it, and then stick it to your journal. Just remember to print it in a size that will fit your journal, or make plans to fold the page before you add it. 😊
🌿 That’s It For Today!
I hope you have fun with this. If you’d like, share your creation in Notes and tag me! I’d love to see what you make. 💚
➡️ Next up: on Monday we’re deep diving into the why and how of planning a Slow Day of Softness and Gentleness, and why you need a day like that. Don’t miss it! 😊
Until next time. 💚 —Nospheratt
Though of course you can absolutely do that if you want!
If you have a notebook you love, that has a flexible cover and white dotted grid pages, please drop me a recommendation in the comments? I adore the ones I get from Ale-Hop, but I’d like to try white pages.
