This is Joy Every Week - a weekly quest to find joy in everyday things. You’re receiving this either because you subscribed or someone forwarded it to you.
Hello, my friend.
This week was — is — hell.
And we have a long, hard journey ahead of us.
But today, let’s rest.
This weekend, take time to rest. To mourn. To cry, if that’s what you need—I know I’ve been crying a lot and I’m still not done.
This weekend, step away from the doom, even for a moment. Look away from the phone. Look outside the window. Find a tree or a leaf or a bird or a rock.
Take a breath.
This weekend, take time for silence, if that’s what you need.
For quiet, for sleeping, for naps.
This weekend, take time to hold your people, the people you love and care about, close to your chest. If you can’t hold them physically, hold them in your heart. Send a text, an email, make a call.
Tell them you’re here, you’re not going to let go.
This weekend, make time to be with your people. To laugh, and maybe cry together, and then laugh again. To be quiet together.
To find some joy together.
Because we need joy, if we are to keep going and face what’s coming.
We need each other.
We have each other.
I am here. I am not letting go.
We’ll go on our quest for joy again next week.
Today, let’s rest.
