๐ฟ Discover Hidden Joys In Your Small, Quiet Moments
The peace of a golden morning in the kitchen + 31 Small Joys for March.
๐ฟ Hello, lovely! Iโm Nospheratt and this is Joy Every Week - a weekly quest to find joy in everyday things. Enjoy! :) ๐ฟ
Today I was thinking about the quiet of a golden morning in the kitchen.
Those moments when the day is still waking up, and the sun streams through the window, painting everything in sunshine and diffuse yellow.
When the peaceful silence still hangs in the air, or thereโs soft laughter and sleepy smiles.
When the world has not yet begun, and thereโs the promise of shared stories or quiet contemplation.
A little, small time just to be.
Itโs such a small, trivial thing. A sunny kitchen, a few moments of peace.
And yet.
My body remembers, my soul remembers, the joy of it. I can close my eyes and take nourishment from those memories, from that golden light and that quiet.
I can be there.
I hoard shiny, small, peaceful moments like a magpie.
Take a breath, feel it in your skin, let it sink into your body and become part of you.
So you can go back there.
When things are scary. When youโre missing the past, and your people, and the future thatโs not there anymore.
When you need a moment of peace.
You should treasure them, too.
Collecting very small joys is an easy way to notice the joyful things in your life.
To remind yourself that not all is lost, not everything is pain.
To build resilience, and to learn how to access joy and light when you need it.
Because big moments and life-changing events (luckily) donโt happen all that often, but you can feel joy every dayโeven if just for a moment.
Even if just for a few minutes, while you brew your coffee or prepare your tea in the golden quiet of the kitchen.
๐ฟ This Weekโs Quest - Very Small Joys
Ideas & inspiration to find your joy.

Foggy landscapes, especially in the very early morning
The quiet of the woods
Washing my face and moisturizing in the morning. Itโs sensory pleasure, self-care and self-love all in one daily ritual.
Drinking cold water from the fridge. I drink cold water all year long โ I keep three small bottles in the back of the fridge. Theyโre cute and practical and I love them.
When Google Photos resurfaces a favorite photo or a funny video
Turning off the overhead lights in the evening and enjoying the soft glow of the fairy lights Iโve stringed everywhere
A hug from a friend when youโre saying hello
A nice cup of herbal tea after lunch
Putting on warm socks when my feet are cold.
2 - Go on a treasure hunt! ๐ชด
This month โ or this week, or today โ go on a treasure hunt. Make a point of noticing every small joy you can find in your day to day.
Document - Make a note or take a picture every time you experience a fleeting moment of joy
Explore - How did it feel? What was joyful about it?
Make a collection - Save your favorite small joys! Make an album, a list, a collage, a journal page, doodles, a zineโฆ whatever speaks to you.
Read How To Create a Personal Archive of Joy for ideas on how to make your collection.
Then you can revisit your collection when you need it, and add to it over time, as you make a habit of paying attention to the smallest of joys. ๐

PS - Do you like the new dividers and accent color? Red has been the color of myโฆwell, everything, all my life. It still is. But Iโve been feeling for a while that something more organic and peaceful โ green โ would be better for this space. What do you think? Should I go back? ๐
This is so so lovely, Nospherat! I need to go back and read it again now. And yes to the dividers! How did you do that?? Asking for a blonde ๐ค๐โค๏ธ
